I've managed to make friends in The West Pacific over time. TAO, he of the lightbulbs, is from there. Further evidence of their generosity is as follows from their regional board:

Ah, TWP. A home away from home; and I should really make it home somehow. I do hope that the esteemed TAO is alive and well causing a little mischief somewhere in NS.

Anyway, my stay today must be brief, as I'm simply attempting to gain some nations for my region "Darkness". So, if you're at all interested in us, come take a look. Stay for a couple of days. If you have any questions, ask me. Maybe even TAO would put in a good word for us. Thanks for your time.

Awww - I missed Ealstan... nice guy. If you have to move, then move a puppet to his region and check it out. But The West Pacific is still the best o' the best!

The way I recruit is as follow:

Move my nation into one of The Pacifics, post a short and amusing recruitment about the region and move on. I do a slightly different post in each region, but most people just cut and paste. The following regions are the only ones that you can post recruitment messages in:

The Pacific
The North Pacific
The East Pacific
The South Pacific
The West Pacific
The Rejected Realms

Another way is to send telegrams to nations.

Hello Ealstan. TAO here. My current stint as Deputy Prime Minister in The West Pacific has kept me really busy for the past four months. I seldom leave the region for my walk-abouts as I did in earlier days. Once my current term is completed, I will roam the world again. I think I have some more black light bulbs to deliver.

I want to tell you and your wonderful region mates that TWP is always open to you; you are always welcome. In fact, why don't you send a representative to the TWP forum and contact Monte Ozarka (our Foreign Minister) regarding the opening of a Darkness Interest Section in our Embassy Row section. Tell the TAO sent you. I will inform her that I have made this invitation.

As for getting the word out about Darkness, I have been seeing an acquaintance of mine has developed a multi-regional ad service. Have you seen any of Lawn Flamingo's work? I met him during a walk-about several months ago. He was then just getting started. He is busy from what I see lately but you might contact him anyway. I think I asked him to contact you several months back ... don't know if he did, though.

The forum looks wonderful.

ciao,
TAO

Returning the favor as a new member. :D

I will stop by from time to time but my duties call me elsewhere. I miss my walk-about days.

I want to encourage you to consider trading Interest Sections with us (that is our first step toward an embassy.) MO is the person to contact. She is very polite and very capable. In time, we can have a regular representative move someone into the region and function as our Envoy to Darkness.

Peace to you all.

And thank you ever-so-much for stopping by Gaia.

ciao,
TAO

Hello! I just registered here on your forums. Before we get anything started, if y'all have any questions for me regarding TWP or anything else, please ask, and I'll try to answer them to the best of my abilities (or find someone that can). :D

"The Fifth report"

By Press secretary, Freedom and Pride

March 16th, 2005

Regional update-

nations in TWP-7641
Forum messages-over 52,000
Current Prime Minister- Dilber
Current delegate- ZetaOne

-Lately the West Pacific has seen resurgence in activity.
-The grand assembly passed five amendments that are meant as simplifications and reforms, and allow them to sit in continuous session. All have passed in the Council, the upper body of the legislature.
-In addition to the flurry of amendments, there is a steady stream of individual alliances with regions like Nascournia. The Foreign ministry, which is still growing, now has a policy of asking for personal alliances with regions rather than relying solely on membership in grand organizations like the Alliance Defense Network.
-The council has been generally receptive to these alliances.
-In the realms of role-playing, reforms have been made and now we expanded the forum to deal with semi-current times, an RP far in the future with alien races, and then an RP that will soon be about the 1900 era.
-Elections are coming up fast for judges and other positions, since they all are stacked at different times.
-One of those justices, a well loved player names Kurdazistan has retired from play due to issues of real life. He will be missed.
-Voting reforms in the council may be stalled slightly, and many members are now slowing down on NationStates activity, but he Grand Assembly has been far more active than usual, and is making up for any slack.
-Spring Breaks are approaching, and vacations may soon be taken, however the West Pacific stands firm in our opposition to the North Pacific Directorate.
-On that note, the West Pacific participates in the NS world's faire hosted by the East Pacific and we recently surpassed the North Pacific by becoming the strongest voice in the UN. ZetaOne, our delegate, have over 630 endorsements.
-Dilber was re-elected to the Prime Minister position, which is the highest position in our government.

With that I conclude with a thank you for reading this, and I look forward to publishing this again.

Sincerely,
The republic of Freedom and Pride
WP press secretary and comm-ranger.
